Get Involved
Everything that Edible York does is made possible by volunteers. The gardens we manage, the events we put on, the apples we cycle around the city to new homes in the autumn. It’s all volunteer-powered, as are most of the community growing projects featured on this site.
The more people are involved, the more impact we can have.
Here are a few ways you could get involved – or contact us if you have an idea for a new project.
You could:
- Come along to the gardening sessions at our two edible beds in York city centre. Full details are here.
- Join us on a fruit picking day in the summer or autumn. We pick dozens of fruit trees each year, and love welcoming new pickers! email us on abundance@edibleyork.org.uk
- Help deliver fruit. If you’re less keen on picking, we always need people to help deliver the boxes of fruit to local groups that can use it.
- Join the York Edible Exchange group on facebook. It’s a great place to swap surplus crops, plants and seeds.
- Start a new growing space. If you know of a patch of land available for communal growing, we’d be happy to give help or advice. email info@edibleyork.org.uk
- Become a trustee – we’re always looking for volunteers!
